Caleb, Gage and Fox are best friends. Born on the same day of the same year -- 7/7/1977 -- they are friends from birth, though their families are from three very different walks of life. On the eve of their tenth birthday, they wander into Hawkins Woods, and unleash a menacing power set to destroy everything they love and believe in. Quinn Black arrives in Hawkins Hollow in February, 2008, setting out to make a solid name for herself in her chosen field of "spooky". She wants to write a book on the events that occur in the town every seven years on the 7th of July. To do that, she has to work with Cal, and neither of them are expecting just what that will mean for them both. So, I've never made a secret of how much of a Nora Roberts fan I am. I love her men, and mostly I love her women. I had been worried by the formulaic track her trilogies had started to take, and I think she went of the rails a bit with "Blue Dahlia", but overall, I really her enjoy her work. As with the Circle trilogy, I find this start of this series very intriguing. Cal and Quinn completely mesh and work together in a way that makes me smile and feel warm. I really look forward to the second story in May and am happy to see Roberts move away a bit from the character/romance-driven novels into solid, interesting plot-driven stories.
